RE: PAYMENT OF SALARIES TO RECENTLY RECRUITED TEACHERS

The attention of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has been drawn to allegation, making round in the media, of non-payment of salaries to certain teachers recruited in October 2025.

While the Commission understands the concerns expressed, it is important to clarify the facts surrounding the matter.

The affected individuals were issued provisional letters of appointment subject to the completion of mandatory documentation and verification processes required under the Ekiti State Public Service Rules. These processes include credential verification, authentication of academic and professional qualifications, documentation clearance, and proper capture into the State payroll system.

Regrettably, a significant number of the concerned persons are yet to complete their documentation. In addition, there are ongoing reviews regarding discrepancies observed in the academic qualifications and supporting documents submitted by some candidates during the recruitment exercise. Until these issues are satisfactorily resolved, the Commission is unable to finalize their employment status or process salary payments.

TESCOM remains committed to transparency, due process, and the maintenance of standards within the State’s education sector. The Commission will not compromise on qualification requirements or procedural integrity in the interest of fairness and quality assurance.

Affected individuals are therefore advised to promptly regularize their documentation and cooperate fully with the verification process to facilitate their capture on the payroll.

The Commission assures all stakeholders that necessary steps are being taken to conclude the verification exercise as quickly as possible, after which all duly cleared and qualified teachers will be paid in accordance with extant regulations.

TESCOM appreciates the patience and understanding of the public and reiterates its commitment to the welfare of legitimately recruited teachers and the overall development of education in Ekiti State.

Signed
Mrs. Rhoda Ojo
