Ekiti SUBEB Commences Distribution of Furniture to Public Primary and Junior Secondary Schools

As part of the 2022 UBEC/SUBEB intervention project, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has commenced the distribution of furniture to public primary and junior secondary schools in the State.

The Executive Chairman of Ekiti SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi stated during the presentation of some of the new furniture to some schools that the distribution of the furniture is in furtherance of the commitment of the Oyebanji led administration to the development of basic education sector in the State.

Prof. Akinwumi while stressing the importance of the provision of conducive environments and infrastructure to public primary schools said that the current administration will always give priority attention to the basic education sector, especially in the area of infrastructural development.

The SUBEB Boss revealed that the distribution will be in batches and the first batch has begun with the second batch to follow shortly.

He appreciated Governor Oyebanji for his commitment to the growth of education in the State through the various approvals given to requests of the board in the areas of infrastructure, instructional materials and prompt approval/payment of counterpart funds.

Akinwumi also mentioned that he has been assured that the State Government would continue to foster greater synergy with UBEC, Federal Ministry of Education as well as willing development partners and donor agencies in the quest to improve infrastructure in public schools in the State and making them globally comparative and competitive.

He enumerated the items to be distributed to schools to include: 200units of Nursery School Furniture, 3000units of Primary School Furniture, 450units of Junior Secondary School Furniture and 660 pairs of Teachers table & chairs.

The SUBEB Chairman urged the Head Teachers and Principals from the Public Primary and Junior Secondary schools respectively to make judicious use of the furniture given to them.
