In furtherance of the Ekiti State Government’s commitment to promoting the well-being of children, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Olapeju Babafemi, has extended support to multiple birth families in Efon Alaaye.
Speaking during the event at Efon Alaaye, Mrs Babafemi noted that the empowerment programme aligned with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration’s shared prosperity agenda, which seeks to provide inclusive growth and support to vulnerable groups.
“This initiative is an extension of the State government’s resolve to touch lives across all communities. Supporting mothers with multiple births is particularly important, considering the emotional and financial responsibilities they bear. We are here to ease that burden and show that government cares,” she said.
The Commissioner also acknowledged the efforts of the First Lady of Ekiti State, Her Excellency Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, for her numerous empowerment initiatives targeted at widows, orphans, children, and the elderly.
According to her, the First Lady has been instrumental in advancing welfare programmes that positively impacted many families across the State.
Highlighting the administration’s gender-inclusive policies, Babafemi lauded Governor Oyebanji for his confidence in women, evident in their appointment into key political and administrative positions.
She called on citizens to support government initiatives, stressing that collective cooperation is vital to improving people’s well-being and advancing development.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Tosin Falayi who is mother of a set of twins, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner and the state government. “This support means a lot to us. Raising multiple children is a huge responsibility, and this assistance gives us a sense of relief and hope,” she said.
The event featured the distribution of household items, food, and financial support to mothers of multiple births.
