
Ekiti State Government has assured people in the State that the ongoing Aerial mapping in the State would enhance security by providing comprehensive and detailed aerial views capable of providing situational awareness thus aiding in threat identification.
The Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Land, eGIS and Survey, Professor James Olaleye who gave the assurance in Ado Ekiti during an advocacy visit to the Council of Traditional Rulers, said the project would also boost efficient resource allocation.
According to him, the technology would help security forces to monitor borders as well as prevent illegal activities and improve overall security measures, adding that it is intended to benefit the community and improve land management, especially for landowners, property developers, and investors.
He said the project would lead to increased investment in real estate development and infrastructure projects, as well as reduce the risk of land tenure insecurity, boundary disputes, and fraudulent transactions.
Advising people in the State to maintain a calm and supportive attitude during the duration of the exercise to ensure its success, he assured that all necessary safety measures have been put in place for the aerial survey with close monitoring of all activities during the mapping exercise in the interest of public safety.
The Governor’s aide stressed that the protection of residents and National security as a whole is guaranteed with the presence of monitoring personnel and close attention to public safety.
Olaleye said the aerial survey is a well-planned, harmless operation and not something to be alarmed by, adding that it is part of efforts to implement a comprehensive Land Administration solution that would enhance Government’s ability to plan appropriately for residents in the State, among other objectives.
He said that the State Government is carrying out massive sensitization program to inform the people about the project to remove any fear or misunderstanding that might arise from seeing a low-flying aircraft.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro pledged the continued support of traditional rulers in the State to efforts at developing the State.
Oba Ilori Faboro however stressed the need to properly explain the concept for proper understanding of all stakeholders in the State.
In attendance at the advocacy visit were, the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun; the State Surveyor-General, Adebayo John Faleto and the contractor handling the project, Olajugba Oluropo, a surveyor.
