EKITI L-PRES PRODUCES 1,200 COPIES OF LIVESTOCK EXTENSION MANUAL TO BOOST ADVISORY SERVICES

In a significant move to enhance livestock farming practices, the Ekiti State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) project has produced 1,200 copies of a newly adopted Extension Manual for circulation to stakeholders in the sector.

This manual is designed to serve as a comprehensive guide for livestock farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders, aims to improve livestock productivity and resilience across the state.

While receiving the handbook in his office Ado Ekiti, the State Project Coordinator L-PRES, Mr. Olayinka Adedipe emphasized the manual’s role as a vital tool in achieving the objectives of the L-PRES project.

He highlighted that the manual provides user-friendly, comprehensive resources to deliver impactful training sessions, enhancing the relevance of the manual to reflect the realities and challenges faced by livestock farmers.

He said the manual’s development involved a collaborative effort, bringing together experts, stakeholders, and practitioners to exchange ideas and refine strategies for sustainable livestock management.

Adedipe expressed optimism that the adoption of the Extension Manual would positively impact the livelihoods of livestock farmers and other stakeholders in the sector.

In her contribution, the Extension Officer L-PRES, Mrs Olubunmi Ajayi said the initiative aligns with Ekiti State’s broader efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and resilience.

Ajayi noted that the state has adopted digital extension services to provide farmers with timely, accurate, and actionable information, leveraging mobile applications and online platforms.

She said the production and distribution of the Extension Manual mark a significant step towards achieving the objectives of the L-PRES project, which aims to improve livestock productivity, resilience, and commercialization in selected value chains.

The Director Jorac ICT Hub & Creativity Consultant, Ado Ekiti Mr. Ehinola Ayobami said the innovative training module is designed to address critical gaps in livestock management, animal health, feeding systems, record keeping, and market access.

He emphasized the importance of farmer-centric training stressing that “Our goal is to simplify complex livestock practices into practical, engaging modules that farmers can understand, apply, and benefit from immediately,”
