
A team from the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), led by the Head of Management Information System (MIS), Dr. Sesugh Nongo, has visited the Ekiti State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) for quality assurance monitoring of the ongoing integration and updating of the National Identification Number (NIN) into the National Social Register (NSR).
The visit featured an interactive meeting with the SOCU team where progress reports of work done were shared.
The forum afforded the teams an opportunity to discuss strategies adopted at improving data accuracy and system efficiency on the State Operations Coordinating Unit.
The State Coordinator of the project, Mr. Abiodun Ariyo, provided an update on the state’s efforts and achievements made so far in the NIN capturing and integration exercise currently going on across the 16 LGAs of Ekiti State.
Dr. Sesugh, while appreciating the hospitality of Ekiti SOCU team, commended the State Coordinator for being responsive, stressing that the SOCU Coordinator’s commitment to this update is commendable as it reflects strong leadership style and dedication to the goals of the programme”
The Management and Information Systems expert explained that the quality assurance visit is a routine exercise that is to be carried out quarterly or annually depending on programme demands.
He noted that the focus of the team is to assess performance across all SOCU relevant units, which includes MIS, Accounts, Communications, Grievance Redress Mechanism, (GBV), Monitoring & Evaluation, Safeguards, among others, with a view of providing solutions where challenges are identified.

Sesugh clarified that his team was not in the State to find faults but will be involved in collaborative efforts to identify gaps, proffer solutions and strengthen the process so that the integration of NIN into the Social Register can proceed effectively.
He also disclosed that the visit availed the national team the opportunity to carry out field verification of data registration, especially in communities where NIN updates and data harvesting have already taken place.
The visit ended with a field trip to some selected communities to monitor first-hand progress of data update and integration process
