
Ekiti State Government has trained some selected officers in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on the new standardised template for Budget preparation and financial reporting in the State.
Speaking at the One- day Workthrough session on the New National Chart of Accounts Template for the preparation of 2026 Budget, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Sola Akinluyi, explained that the training was designed to strengthen the capacity of officers from various MDAs on the NCoA, compliance and budgeting template.
Mr Akinluyi stressed that the training was critical for a smooth budget process aimed at ensuring that all MDAs use the same classification system, enhancing transparency, accountability and comparability of financial data.
He expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for his support and commitment towards improving the budget process as well as his commitment to promote sound budget principles in Ekiti State Public Service.
In her remarks, the State Accountant General, Mrs Titilayo Olayinka stressed the importance of the training, noting that budget and Accounts preparation goes hand- in- hand.
The Accountant General, who was represented by Mr Lekan Ogundugba said the two are very pertinent in fiscal policies especially on the issue of expenditure and stressed that account preparation and financial reporting comes from budget preparation.
In his contributions, the Auditor General of the State, Mr Victor Adeuya, who noted that budget preparation is premised on the NCoA said it is very important to be able to give credibility to whatever budget prepared for the state.
The workshop was attended by the Statistician General of the State, Mrs Dolapo Ojo, Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Capacity and Reform, Directors of Finance and Accounts, Directors of Administration and Supplies and other officers from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state.
