The Forthcoming Gubernatorial Election: A Foregone Conclusion Anchored on Performance and Popular Mandate

The overwhelming popularity and unmatched performance of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, have made his re-election essentially inevitable.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who gave this affirmation during a tour of Local Government Areas in preparation for the approaching primary election, stressed that going by the widely acknowledged reality on ground, the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State is, by all reasonable standards, a foregone conclusion.

He noted that since assuming office, Governor Oyebanji has delivered purposeful leadership, prudent economic management, and people-centered governance. “From infrastructure development and educational reform to healthcare improvement and youth empowerment, the administration has achieved tangible results that continue to improve the lives of the people”.

“Independent opinion polls, grassroots feedback, and public sentiment consistently demonstrate a high approval rating for the Governor and reflect a strong mandate for continuity, with a broad spectrum of the electorate expressing strong support for continuity. This is not surprising, as the dividends of democracy under his administration are not theoretical, they are visible, measurable, and impactful”.

“Ekiti people have seen the results and are eager to consolidate the gains achieved under the Oyebanji administration. The upcoming election, therefore, is not a contest of promises, but a referendum on performance. And the people have made their stance abundantly clear: they stand with a leader who has earned their trust and delivered on his mandate”.

However, urging all political actors to conduct themselves with dignity and responsibility, Olatunbosun emphasized that “as we approach the election, campaigns must remain issue-based, driven by policies and ideas, not insults, misinformation, or incitement”.

“We strongly advise all stakeholders, especially political parties, candidates, and their supporters, to shun violence, hate speech, and campaigns of calumny. Electoral contests should not be reduced to desperate attempts to divide the electorate or undermine the peace and progress of our dear State”.

“The government remains committed to a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process, and we call on security agencies and electoral bodies to remain vigilant and impartial in the discharge of their duties”.

“Once again, we reaffirm the confidence of this administration in the ability of Ekiti people to make the right choice, one that is based on proven performance, continuity, and a clear vision for sustained development”.

“The future of Ekiti is secure, and with Governor Oyebanji at the helm, it is set to shine even brighter”.
