The Ekiti State Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, has commended the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for his visionary leadership and continued commitment to the welfare, growth, and development of civil servants in the State since assuming office three years ago.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti while featuring on Ekiti Loni/ Ekiti Today, a live audience participation programme on Radio, Dr Olomojobi also lauded the Governor for his consistent investment in the welfare of civil servants and retirees in the State
She said apart from implementing one of the most progressive minimum wage structures that cuts across all sectors, the Oyebanji Administration had also embarked on massive recruitment into the teaching service at both primary and secondary levels, critical areas of the Civil Service and has also given priority to the payment of Gratuities and pension to pensioners.
According to the Head of Service, the minimum wage structure approved by Governor was comprehensive in nature as he not only increased the emoluments of Civil Servants but also increased the monthly pension of pensioners and the emoluments of accounting officers on consolidated salaries and also increased the monthly subvention allocated to state-owned Tertiary Institutions in Ekiti by over 250% , leading to improved condition of service in the institutions.
Olomojobi said that apart from these , the Governor has also cleared the salary arrears of workers and pension arrears owed retirees by previous administrations for both state and local government workers
“This development is a significant departure from the past, and its impact is already being felt across the state. The Governor has also cleared all outstanding arrears, including promotion arrears and pension arrears which has brought relief to many workers who had been owed for years.
The education sector has also experienced significant growth, with over 1,000 jobs created in the State Universal Basic Education Board ,SUBEB, and over 800 in the Teaching Service Commission”, she stated.
The State Head of Service added that following the approval of the 2024 and 2025 promotion by the State Government, the promotion of workers in the State Civil Service would be up to date for the first time in the history of the State.
Olomojobi described the Ekiti civil service as the engine of government and a body of “men and women of integrity, diligence, and great capacity,” noting that their contributions are crucial to the sustained progress of the state.
Reflecting on the performance award programme, she recalled that ₦45 million was distributed last year to outstanding workers — both junior and senior — and revealed that the cash award for outstanding workers would be higher than those of last year.
Dr. Olomojobi urged workers to continue giving their best, to embrace technological advancement, and to work in harmony with the governor in making Ekiti one of Nigeria’s most developed and admired states
