Ekiti’s Agro-Allied International Airport to Launch Scheduled Commercial Flights on December 10, 2025

Ekiti State Government has announced that scheduled commercial flights will officially commence at the Agro-Allied International Airport on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Technical Adviser to the Governor on the Airport Project, Air Vice-Marshal Sunday Makinde (Rtd.), who made this known during an audience participatory simulcast program, Ekiti Loni/Ekiti Today, revealed that United Nigeria Airlines has entered a formal agreement with the Ekiti State Government to operate commercial flights connecting Ekiti with Lagos and Abuja.

According to AVM Makinde, the aircraft slated for the first scheduled flight, which has a capacity of about 50 passengers, has completed all required clearance procedures, adding that Flight tickets will be made available on the airline’s website, www.flyunitednigeria.com.

Reiterating the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration to making Ekiti a hub for investors, tourists, and businesses, AVM Makinde highlighted the government’s focus on infrastructure development, policy frameworks, and public-private partnerships to attract investment and create jobs.

He assured residents of safety, comfort, and fair treatment for all passengers at the airport, noting that the Governor’s proposed subsidy on ticket prices underscores the administration’s commitment to affordable air travel.

“The Governor is committed to making flying affordable. Ekiti people deserve convenience, safety, and global access,” he said.

AVM Makinde added that schools, tourists, local entrepreneurs, and aviation enthusiasts will also have access to the facility for educational visits and tours.

“This airport belongs to everyone, from businessmen and students to farmers, civil servants, and travelers. It is a national asset and a gift from this administration to the people.”

Also speaking, the General Manager of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport, Mr. Charles Arogunma, confirmed that the airport is fully ready for scheduled flights, holding certification from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and boasting over 200 successful landings since January.

Describing the airport as one of the safest air facilities in the country, Mr. Arogunma noted that it hosts the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police, and Aviation Security Unit.

He also highlighted the airport’s 3.2 km runway, modern landing instruments, and two brand-new fire trucks, adding that the flight time to Lagos or Abuja will be as short as 30 minutes, a development set to transform travel for Ekiti residents and visitors.
