
….Lauds Administration Inclusive Policy
The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) is set to decorate the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji as a NASET fellow in recognition of his unwavering support and commitment to Special Education and advancing the interest of students with special needs.
The National President of NASET, Dr. Catherine Atteng who made this known in Ado Ekiti during a rally organized to kick-start the association’s 36th Annual National Conference scheduled to hold from June 16th to 21st, 2025, described Oyebanji as a “disability friendly Governor” and a model for inclusivity.
The rally had made brief stops at the Governor’s office on a courtesy call on the State Head of Service, Dr. Folake Olomojobi and the office of the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye at the State Secretariat.

Applauding Governor Oyebanji’s policy of inclusivity and style of governance, Mrs. Atteng stressed that the administration obvious focus on creating environments and systems where everyone feels valued, respected, and has equal opportunities to participate and contribute is commendable.
Dr. Atteng said Governor Oyebanji has succeeded in fostering an inclusive environment for people living with disabilities, which she described as heartwarming and commendable.
Also noting that the Governor inclusive policy is in tandem with the theme of this year’s conference, Dr. Atteng pledged the continued support of her association for his efforts to rapidly develop the State.
She said “we came up with this theme that says ‘Accessibility for learners with special needs’ You can see, everywhere is accessible. Government officials are easily accessible, even the Head of Service, we can access her anytime, any day.
“We have been attending NASET conferences. We have been to many States where you will have to wait at a distance and the officials will come and address you from faraway when they are ready. But here, everything is easy, we access the Governor’s office without hindrance”.
In her remarks, the State Head of Service, Dr. Olomojobi attributed the development in the Special Education Sector to Governor Oyebanji’s passion for people with special needs and his commitment to provision of equitable opportunities for everyone in line with his administration’s mantra of shared prosperity.
She also commended the teachers in the Special schools noting that what described as the phenomenal changes in the Special Education sector was facilitated by the Governor, they were mostly implemented by the teachers.

The Head of Service however urged the teachers not to relent efforts at excelling at their duty posts, stressing the need to sustain team work and continuously improve their skills and learning.
She emphasized the importance of reciprocating government’s good gesture by rededicating themselves to duty adding that improving performance or strengthening one’s commitment to the overall goals would also serve as incentives to do more.
The Special Adviser to the governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola, in her comments, reiterated the commitment of the Oyebanji administration to partner with relevant stakeholders to improve the Special Education sector, adding that the NASET had been a formidable partner in progress in the efforts to improve the sector.
Stressing that the State had benefited immensely from suggestions and contributions of the President of NASET, Princess Agboola said it is an honour to host the annual conference.
She advised Special School teachers in the State to take advantage of the programme to sharpen their skills, adding that the forum is expected to help improve teaching and learning skills and environment.

Also Speaking, The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye ascribed the evolution over time in inclusive education to Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to improving the welfare of both teachers and students in special schools across the state.
According to her, the interventions in Special Schools in the State are almost too numerous to count reflecting the Governor’s dependable support for people living with disabilities since assuming office.

She recalled that the State Government had sponsored several special school students’ participation in exhibitions both within the state and at the national level, describing it as a major source of encouragement.
Dr. Aderiye assured that the State Government would continue to emphasized empathy, integration, and shared humanity in dealing the sector in order to achieve the desired result.
