The Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, has reaffirmed her commitment to initiatives aimed at supporting widows, the aged, orphans, indigent persons and youths in the state.

Oyebanji said this while receiving a Humanitarian Service Award from the Old Students’ Association of Saint Louis Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, during activities marking the 65th anniversary of the school.

The First Lady, who was represented by her Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mrs Toyin Adepoju, described the award as a recognition of collective efforts devoted to humanitarian service.

She said the honour would further inspire renewed commitment towards improving the welfare of vulnerable groups in society.

According to her, Saint Louis Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, has remained a beacon of excellence, discipline and girl-child empowerment over the past 65 years.

Oyebanji noted that the legacy of the institution aligns with her vision of promoting education and empowering women and girls as tools to combat poverty, ignorance and inequality.

She stressed that investment in education and social welfare was critical to building an equitable and progressive society, adding that her humanitarian initiatives across the state were driven by a commitment to inclusive development.

“As you celebrate this 65th anniversary, I pray that God continues to bless your efforts and strengthen your impact for generations to come,” she said.

Earlier, the President of the Old Students’ Association, Mrs Ayodeji Fadugba, said the association had executed several projects to enhance the development of the school.

She listed the projects to include the construction of hostel buildings, laboratories, administrative blocks, boreholes and other infrastructural facilities.

Fadugba commended the Ekiti First Lady for her consistent support for education, women empowerment and humanitarian causes, describing her as deserving of the award.
