The Ekiti State government says it is ready to work with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen security and protect public infrastructure across the state.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Kehinde Ajobiewe who made this known while playing host to the NSCDC Deputy Commandant, Olajide Sodehinde in Ado-Ekiti said the ministry was open to collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to reinforce the state’s security architecture.
Mr Ajobiewe said maintaining security in the state required collective effort and urged residents to support security agencies with useful information.
“Security of our state is a collective responsibility. When you see something, say something in order to prevent crime,” he said.
He also noted that residents of Ekiti State would go to the polls on 20 June 2026 to elect a governor for the next four years, adding that the process must take place in a peaceful and secure environment.
The commissioner commended the state governor for giving priority to the protection of lives and property.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Bayo Abulola, urged security agencies to continue protecting government infrastructure.

Mr Abulola also praised the NSCDC for working with the ministry to maintain order and security at public motor parks across the state.
Earlier, Mr Olajide Sodehinde said the corps was acting on a directive from the National Security Adviser requiring each state command to establish a unit for the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
According to him, the unit is responsible for safeguarding public infrastructure from vandalism and other criminal activities.
He added that the NSCDC was seeking closer cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation to help carry out the mandate and further reduce crime in the state.
