Ekiti holds Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise on Saturday

The Ekiti State Government has announced that its April environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, April 25, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The exercise, themed “Environment Safety is a Key Factor to Healthy Living,” is part of efforts to promote public health and maintain a clean environment.

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, urged residents to participate actively, describing environmental sanitation as a collective civic responsibility.

Aluko-Ajisafe said maintaining a clean environment is crucial to preventing disease outbreaks and fostering a healthy society, adding that residents must take ownership of their surroundings.

She noted that movement would be restricted during the three-hour exercise, except for persons on essential duties.

The commissioner added public servants were expected to tidy their offices on Friday ahead of the exercise.

She said Environmental Health Officers, in collaboration with officials of LGAs, LCDAs, non-governmental organisations and security agencies, would monitor compliance and enforce regulations where necessary.
