The Ekiti State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has warned traders and shop owners against displaying goods under the newly constructed Overhead Bridge in Ado-Ekiti.
The warning followed a decongestion exercise by the Ministry’s Environmental Health and Sanitation Department aimed at ensuring public safety, smooth traffic flow, and environmental cleanliness around the flyover.
Speaking during the exercise, Commissioner Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe described the indiscriminate display of goods under the flyover as “unacceptable” and a potential source of obstruction and environmental nuisance.
She stressed that the environs of overhead bridge are not designated for trading and urged traders to relocate to approved market spaces and comply with environmental regulations and avoid penalties.
Erelu Aluko-Ajisafe further warned that continued violations of environmental laws and illegal occupation of public spaces would not be tolerated, noting that routine monitoring and enforcement exercises would continue across the state.
The Commissioner appealed to residents and traders to cooperate with government officials in sustaining a cleaner, safer, and more organized environment throughout Ekiti State.
