Ekiti Head of Service Commends Launch of Foundation for Vulnerable School Children

The Ekiti State Head of Service , Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, has commended the Association of Heads of Service, Female Permanent Secretaries and Wives of Permanent Secretaries in the State for launching a foundation dedicated to supporting vulnerable schoolchildren.

Dr Olomojobi gave the commendation on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti during the launch of the “Spring of Hope Foundation.”

She said women groups must move beyond social fellowship and become agents of hope, support and societal transformation, especially for vulnerable children in need of urgent intervention.

According to her, supporting vulnerable children is crucial because it directly impacts their educational attainment, emotional wellbeing and future economic independence.

The Head of Service described the foundation’s objectives as strategic and timely, particularly considering the leadership example of the Wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji.

She said the initiative was not merely about charity, but about creating sustainable pathways for children to escape poverty and marginalisation.

Olomojobi also highlighted the humanitarian efforts of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, and Dr Oyebanji in advancing women and children development across the country.

She noted that the initiatives reflected government’s commitment to nurturing vulnerable groups through targeted support programmes.

Speaking on the forthcoming governorship election in the state, the HoS urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in governance through voting.

She said civic engagement remained essential in shaping policies that prioritise the wellbeing of vulnerable groups, including women and children.

In her goodwill message, a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Modupe Adelabu, commended the association for the initiative and donated to the foundation.

Adelabu, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO), stressed the need to provide adequate educational resources and emotional support for vulnerable school children.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Prof. Ayodele Babatola, represented by Prof. Omolade Oniyide, said empowering vulnerable children required collective efforts from educational institutions, government and civil society organisations.

The event also featured presentation of awards to individuals who had supported the association’s mission.

Recipients included the Head of Service, past presidents of the association and other supporters of the foundation, honoured for their meritorious service and dedication
