Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has described the New Year broadcast of Governor Biodun Oyebanji as a wake-up call to workers in the Public Service to improve on service delivery in order to effectively implement the six-point agenda of his administration.

Addressing staff of the Ministry of Information at a prayer session organized to mark the commencement of work in the new year, Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun urged civil servants to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their duties in the new year.

Olatunbosun stressed the commitment of Governor Oyebanji to the development of the State and the welfare of the people, adding that it would be rather difficult to achieve his vision without a corresponding commitment from the workforce.

The Government’s spokesman underscored the role of Information officers and allied staff to the success of the administration, saying that the Ministry has the stern responsibility of managing and disseminating Government’s information as well as obtaining feedback that help shape policies.

The Commissioner explained that the Ministry owed the people of the State a responsibility of getting information on Government policies, programmes and activities in addition to getting feedback as part of the Governor’s agenda of good and inclusive governance.

He warned that while nobody would be left out in the scheme of things, laziness, truancy, tardiness, unnecessary distractions and other acts that may be inimical to the corporate existence of the Ministry would not be tolerated.

Olatunbosun assured that welfare of workers would continue to take the front burner while the work environment would be as conducive as possible within the available resources of the State.

Stressing the need for patience and understanding, Olatunbosun prayed for God’s blessings, wisdom, good health and strength for everyone in the new year.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olusesan Alabi pledged the unalloyed loyalty and commitment of workers in the Ministry to efforts of Governor Oyebanji administration to develop the State and improve the lot of the people.

Mr. Alabi however urged the staff to be creative and come up with ideas that could add value to the office.

He also advised them to shun acts that are antagonistic to a conducive work environment and are tantamount to waste of resources, stressing the need to remain focused and steadfast.
