.… Distributes security gadgets to further enhance the performance of security agencies in the State
The Ekiti State Government has promised to continue to provide needed support to security agencies in the State for effective and efficient service delivery.
The State Deputy Governor, Chief(Mrs.) Monisade Afuye who made the pledge in Ado while presenting some security gadgets to some key security organizations in the state said that all hands must be on deck to ensure the safety of the citizens of state While distributing the items donated to the state by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in collaboration with National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Abayomi Opeyemi ,said that the provision of the gadgets would go along way in ensuring that security men are effective at their duty posts. She expressed happiness that efforts of Government to to strengthen security in the state had started yielding positive results called on the benefitting security agencies to make judicious use of the donated items.
The Deputy Governor restated the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to ensuring the safety of lives and property of the citizenry. She lauded the Federal Government for making the gadgets available to support the security agencies and boost their morale.
Also speaking at the event, the General Manager of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Oludare Asaolu said the State Government through his agency had been proactive in ensuring that victims of natural and man-made disasters are adequately cared for.
The Deputy Director of NIMASA Mr. Fidelix Owoh who represented the Director General of the Agency promised the agency’s commitment to always support state governments in combating crimes in their respective states.
The donated items which were presented to Security Agencies at the event include: Security Vests/jackets, 2-Way- Radio sets, hand held metal detectors, Vehicle search mirrors, handcuffs, jack knifes with pouch, tactical knee& Elbow guards, security books, OC Spray and rain coats.
The benefitting security agencies include: the Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Security, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Amotekun Corps among others.Representatives of the security outfits who spoke at the forum promised to make the best use of the gadgets.
