Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has described the Governor of the Year Award, 2023 (community development) conferred on Governor Biodun Oyebanji by the Independent Newspapers as well deserved and a call to further service.
The award was presented by a former Governor of Old Ondo State, Chief Olabode George at a well-attended ceremony chaired by former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday.
The award was in recognition of Governor Oyebanji’s development strides in the State, especially in the areas of community development, youth and women empowerment, infrastructure upgrade as well as his inclusive government, which has put the state on an irreversible path of peace, progress and prosperity as well as his unique brand of governance which places high premium on completion of inherited projects side by side with new ones; huge investments in human capital development, power and road infrastructure.
Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun, who was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media/Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, to receive the award on behalf of Governor Oyebanji, expressed gratitude to the organizers for the honour, describing it as an exceptional recognition of the massive impact of Governor Oyebanji’s stewardship across Ekiti State.
Olatunbosun said Governor Oyebanji has dedicated the award to citizens of the State in appreciation of their support, encouragement and prayers which has immensely contributed to the successes recorded so far.
He reiterated the commitment of the Governor to his administration’s shared prosperity agenda for the benefit of all in the state, assuring that the Governor is a compassionate leader that would continue to deploy his energy and time towards sustaining rapid growth and development of the State and making life more meaningful for the people.
Recalling that Governor Oyebanji was the Secretary of the committee set up for the creation of Ekiti State when he was in his twenties and was also the Secretary of the Ekiti State Development Fund at one point, Olatunbosun noted that the Governor is well-acquainted with the visions of the founding fathers as well as the intricacies and terrains of the State adding that his belief in democratic principle of inclusiveness devoid of political, social, religion, ethnic, gender or class separatism has continued to distinguished his leadership as one of the very best in the country.
The programme was attended by member of the House of Representatives representing Ido/Osi/Moba/Ilejemeje Federal Constituency of Ekiti State, Hon. Akinlayo Kolawole in honour of Governor Oyebanji.
