
The Ekiti State Government has signed a Letter of Intent and Preliminary Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre for China-Africa Discourse Studies (CECADS) for the establishment of a state-of-the-art technology training hub in the State
Speaking at the ceremony in Hangzhou, China, the State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Digital Economy, Mr Seun Fakuade who represented the State Government at the forum said that the event marks the beginning of a transformative partnership between CECADS and the Ekiti State Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Digital Economy (MISDE).
He emphasized that the agreement will enable CECADS to establish a state-of-the-art technology training hub in Ekiti State in line with the Oyebanji Administration’s agenda for engendering innovation and digital transformation in the State.

The Commissioner explained that the project is expected to commence immediately after the remaining agreements are signed by the two parties and land allocation by the Ekiti State Government for the project.
Fakuade disclosed that by the time the Chinese expatriates arrive in Ekiti, the State Government must have finalized arrangements to train local masons and artisans to the required specifications to enable construction works at the site to commence immediately.

Dignitaries present at the signing of the agreement include the Consul General of the Nigeria Embassy in Shanghai, China, Ambassador Gbadebo Afolabi, represented by Minister/Consul Econ/TRADE, Investment, Dr. Ilesanmi Abiodun Bakare, and the CECADS Director, Miss Queen Modestus.
The first phase of the project is expected to be concluded within a year of construction.
