177 BENEFICIARIES OF EKSG/ACCESS BANK WOMEN LOANS INITIATIVE UNDERGO ONE-DAY TRAINING ON BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Ekiti State Government in collaboration with Access Bank Plc has organized a one-day training programme for 177 approved beneficiaries of the EKSG/Access Women Loan Initiative in order to enhance their business management skills.

Speaking while declaring the training programme open in Ado-Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Trade, Industries, Investment and Co-operatives, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola stressed that the training programme was organized as part of efforts to equip the beneficiaries with knowledge on how to effectively utilize the loans to boost their businesses.

The Commissioner who spoke through her Senior Technical Assistant , Mr. Laolu Bamgboye, said the initiative which was facilitated by Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration through Access Bank Plc was aimed at empowering women-led businesses and entrepreneurs in the State.

She emphasized that the State Government is committed to the welfare of all women, noting that the goal of the loan is for Ekiti women to be engaged in productive activities that could support their families and contribute to the society, rather than being seen as liabilities or perpetual dependants

“This training is being organized today as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Access Bank to provide financial literacy training to all beneficiaries, so I urge you all to make use of the platform to change the narrative of your businesses”, Adeola said.

The Commissioner urged them to repay the loans on time to enable them qualify for larger amounts that would further boost their businesses in the future .

One of the facilitators who is also the Technical Assistant on Trade in the Ministry, Mr. Mike Folorunsho spoke on “Product Development & Business Setup, Branding, Marketing & Customer Relations.”

He stressed the importance of identifying viable products before starting a business and encouraged participants to cultivate strong customer relationships and unique marketing strategies.

Another facilitator, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Owoeye from Access Bank Plc, who discussed the significance of budgeting, money management and book keeping, explained that proper financial management would help the beneficiaries distinguish profits from their capital.

Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Ibrahim Balikis and Miss. Elebimoye Ruth expressed their gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for the loan initiative.

While acknowledging that the training would greatly benefit their businesses, they promised to use the loan judiciously and repay back on time.
