
Ekiti State Government has completed nine public conveniences consisting of five toilets and five bathrooms each at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp at Ise-Emure.
The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Adesola Gold Adedayo who made this known during an inspection tour of the project, said workers were putting finishing touches on the job, adding that they would be ready before the next batch of Corps members commenced orientation.
Expressing appreciation to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Youth Development, Senator Yemi Adaramodu for his immense support in giving the Camp a facelift, Mr. Gold added that the State Government in collaboration with the Senate Committee on Youth Development had installed 30 solar poles for proper illumination of the camp.
He explained that the construction of the conveniences and solar light at the NYSC camp is the first phase of the planned total facelift of the facility, adding that Governor Biodun Oyebanji had, ab initio, ordered the conduct of integrity test on all physical structures in the camp and remained committed to ensuring a conducive environment for proper orientation of Corps members posted to the State.
The Commissioner said that “this is the first phase of the intervention of Mr. Governor to give this Orientation Camp a facelift and we are appreciative of His Excellency, our Governor, our youth loving Governor for this intervention for coming tour rescue. Of course, you remember the ugly incident that happened the other time. It was as a result of this that Mr. Governor approved the construction of the toilet facilities and also approved the conduct of an integrity test on all the buildings, not only the toilets, but all the buildings. Like I said, this is the first phase, more are still coming. In fact, a lot of interventions are still coming from the Governor”.

In his remarks, the Ekiti State NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for his quick response to the needs of the camp.
According to him, the ongoing intervention is the first of its kind since the inception of the camp, adding that the development has brought a new lease of life to the environment.
“Since inception of the camp, this is the first time of this type of intervention. I am not talking about building one apartment or something like that but the first time that somebody will come and see our challenges and face it squarely. This is the first time and thanks to Governor Oyebanji”.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun reiterated the commitment of the State Government to transforming the Permanent Orientation Camp at Emure -Ise -Orun into a vibrant hub with safe, healthy and comfortable hostel accommodation with clean and hygienic toilets facilities.
Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun assured that the State Government would continue to cater for the welfare of both indigenes and non-indigenes residing in the State either temporarily or permanently.
Top Government officials on the inspection tour included the Special Adviser, Independent Project Monitoring Office (IPMO), Mr. Olufemi Ajayi; Director General of Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Mr. James Folorunso, Director General, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), Engr.(Dr.) John Ekundayo and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Project, Mr. Bunmi Talabi.
