Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security set to upscale Cluster Farming in 2025.

…..calls for the submission of Expression of Interest from interested farmers

Ekiti State Government is set to embark on massive land clearing to increase farm clusters to 100 centers in 2025 planting season.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, said that the success recorded in the pioneer farm clusters initiative in 2024 remains unprecedented.

Boluwade affirmed that the decision of the State Government to embark on this massive land clearing is borne out of the commitment of the present administration to increase food production and make the state the food basket of the region.

He indicated that cluster farming holds the potential to bring about a substantial enhancement in the efficiency of smallholder farmers, acting as a pivotal factor in positively shaping their productivity and has been recognized in many developing nations.

The Commissioner said high yield commodities will be planted on the clusters and they will be linked to off takers.

According to him, implementing cluster farming could serve as a viable policy choice to support the entry of smallholder farmers into commercialization, most especially in developing countries.

The Commissioner, therefore, enjoined interested Cooperatives and communities to send their expression of interest letter to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security at the State Secretariat, Ado-Ekiti.

He however stated that such lands to be cleared must be free of any encumbrance while letters of no objection must be obtained from the Baale or Community leader as well as the royal Father in the area.

Boluwade said the lands must also be a minimum of 10 contiguous hectares in size stressing that lands with water bodies will be most preferred.

He advised interested Cooperatives and Communities to call the telephone number – 0803 5657 550 for further information.
