EKITI GOVT. PLEDGES CONTINUED COLLABORATION WITH THE MEDIA FOR INCLUSIVITY, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

Ekiti State Government has pledged continued collaboration with all sectors of the media as part of its inclusivity policy towards achieving sustainable development.

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun gave the assurance in Ado Ekiti while receiving the Executive members of the Ekiti State chapter of the Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) led by the Chairman, Mrs. Omotola Falusi-Popoola on a courtesy visit to his office.

Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun explained that government’s position is aimed at facilitating accurate and timely dissemination of information, promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance stressing that the focus is to ensure provision of equal access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized and promote the general welfare of the society.

Emphasizing the abhorrence of the present administration in the State for crass propaganda, Olatunbosun however stressed that governments have a responsibility to inform their citizens, adding that transparency and open communication are crucial for fostering trust and enabling informed participation in civic life.

The Government’s spokesman also charged media practitioners to take professionalism as their watchword and ensure that the ethics of the profession is followed in their programmes and all their other professional undertakings, adding that they should consider themselves partners in progress with the present administration in the State.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ekiti State chapter of RATTAWU, Mrs. Falusi-Popoola had solicited more synergy between the State Government and her union to boost information management in the State.

Noting RATTAWU’s commitment to the success of the State Government’s effort to achieve sustainable development, Mrs. Falusi-Popoola expressed the readiness of the union to collaborate with the present administration with the aim of promoting good governance and keeping the people informed.
