EKITI LCDA BOSS STRENGTHENS SECURITY, EMPOWERS FARMERS, WOMEN

Executive Chairman of Ifedara Local Development Council, Hon. Lawrence Sunday Ogunsanya has empowered hundreds of youths and women with various items worth millions of naira to boost their businesses and enhance security in the area.

Items distributed included motorcycles, security gadgets, protective wears and traffic cones for security personnel, agrochemicals, spray pumps and other farm implements for farmers, gasoline powered grinders as well as financial Assistance for market women and some needy widows in the council area.

Speaking during the official presentation of the items at Igbemo Ekiti, Hon. Ogunsanya explained that the gesture was geared towards poverty eradication and wealth creation, adding that it was designed to equip people with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to excel in their respective endeavours as well as support efforts of security officials deploy to protect lives and properties of people in the area.

Stressing that security of lives and property of the citizens are key to his administration, the Council boss said that the security gadgets would be allocated to Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, South Western Security Network (Amotekun) and the Vigilante Security Network manning the area.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his visionary leadership that has enabled Councils in the State to function maximally through the transparent Management of funds, stressing that the empowerment programme was possible because the Local Government administration is devoid of undue interference from the State Government as well as the encouragement and support of the Governor.

He however advised the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize the items presented to them so that there can be a significant improvement in the lives of the people and the entire society.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Iya loja of Iworoko-Ekiti, Chief Mrs. Adebayo and Mr. David Adesuyi, a retired civil servant and farmer expressed appreciation to the council boss and promised to properly utilize the empowerment package.

Present at the event were the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Sola Olowojebutu, Secretary of the Council, Hon. Ariyo Afolabi, the Onigbemo of Igbemo-Ekiti, HRM. Oba Adewumi Daramola, the Regent of Iworoko-Ekiti, Mrs Ogundola Bolanle Adenike and Former Council Chairman, Hon. Bewaji Sunday amongst others.
