
Ekiti State Government has assured that it would continue to support statistical activities and other initiatives aimed at improving good governance in the state.
The State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Femi Ajayi gave the assurance during the 1st quarter 2025 meeting of the State Consultative Committee on Statistics (SCCS) held in Ado Ekiti,
Hon Ajayi, who spoke through the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Budget Matters, Mrs Bola Ayo-Salami,stated that the State statistical law was designed to help develop strategies aimed at ensuring the use of uniform standards and promote sound methodologies.
He noted that the Statistical System is designed to improve quality of data, advocate integrity, timeliness and wide accessibility while the Consultative Committee on Statistics meeting provides a platform for developing skills and exposure to knowledge that would positively enhance capability to function maximally at duty posts.
The Commissioner noted that good governance that delivers the dividends of government to its citizens hangs on wise allocation of human, financial, technical and other resources to meet appropriate needs, hence the need for the quarterly meeting.

Hon Ajayi praised the unwavering efforts and brilliant display of knowledge by the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, stressing that the Ekiti State helmsman’s competence as a seasoned administrator has been the guiding principle that led him to be able to micromanage any mitigating issues that would have confronted the State so far.
According to him, the governor’s focus-driven policies, programmes and initiatives have improved the fortunes of every sector, every town and village significantly in terms of provision of basic infrastructure like water, road, electricity among others.
He charged participants at the meeting to synergize with the government on the use of statistics as an indispensable tools for effective planning.
“The onus is on you participants here to reciprocate the gesture of government by making data more accessible for policy makers, by this way you are contributing your quota to the foundation of good governance which is planning with evidence-based data”, the budget commissioner concluded.
Earlier in her welcome address, the State Statistician General, Mrs Dolapo Dasola Ojo said the meeting was purposely designed to strengthen the trajectory of meaningful data production and generation of socio economic indices needed to appraise professional performances and deliver service/mandate to the government in the area of making relevant, timely, accurate, reliable and measurable statistical data available for planning purposes of government and other critical stakeholders.
The Statistician General said the theme of the meeting “Data: A Viable Tool for Population Explosion Management” is a wale up call to participants to make use of the opportunity to scale up their performances and relevance in their duty posts.
Among the dignitaries present at the event was the Permanent Secretary, ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Sola Akinluyi and other top government functionary.
