Ekiti SUBEB Chairman Charges Contractor to Accelerate Work on Command Secondary School, Ikogosi

The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (EkSUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, has charged the contractor handling the construction of the newly established Command Secondary School, Ikogosi Ekiti, to accelerate work to ensure the project is completed before the June 2026 deadline.

Prof. Akinwumi gave the directive during a monitoring visit to the project site, accompanied by top officials of the Board, as part of efforts to ensure timely and successful completion of the school.

He assured that adequate resources have been provided by the Federal Government to finance the project, adding that arrangements are underway to admit the first set of students at the beginning of the next academic session.

The SUBEB Chairman explained that the military school project, an initiative of the Federal Government, includes a 12-classroom block, male and female hostels, laboratories, and an administrative block.

According to him, the completion of the project will boost the local economy, create employment opportunities, enhance security, and further strengthen the presence of the Federal Government in the host community.

Prof. Akinwumi commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for facilitating the establishment of the school, noting the governor’s strong commitment to rural development and educational advancement.

He further urged the contractor to mobilize additional workers and resources to the site to meet the project timeline, assuring continuous supervision to ensure strict adherence to contract specifications.

In his response, the site supervisor, Engr. Joel Umor, assured the SUBEB Chairman of compliance with the directive, pledging to deploy more personnel to ensure timely completion and quality delivery.

The monitoring team also visited Baptist Primary School, Ikogosi Ekiti—the alma mater of Governor Oyebanji—to inspect ongoing renovation and construction works aimed at transforming the school into a world-class model.

Prof. Akinwumi noted that the visits were part of Ekiti SUBEB’s commitment to ensuring quality educational infrastructure across the state, in line with Governor Oyebanji’s vision for educational excellence.

The SUBEB Commissioners for Project Management and Human Resource Management, Dr. Kayode Adeoye and Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke Fajobi; the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Michael Omolayo; Directors; and technical officers accompanied the Executive Chairman on the visit.
