
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Peju Babafemi, has underscored the importance of peer-to-peer support in enhancing effective programme delivery, describing it as a strategy that builds trust, leverages lived experiences, and improves engagement and self-management among beneficiaries.
Mrs. Babafemi made this remark while receiving a delegation from the Ogun State Project Coordinating Unit of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU), who paid her a courtesy visit at her office in Ado-Ekiti.
Welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner described the visit as timely and strategic, noting that peer-to-peer learning remains a proven approach to strengthening programme implementation.
She reaffirmed the Ekiti State Government’s commitment to the successful execution of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up, which has commenced in three pilot local government areas of the state — Moba, Efon, and Aiyekire/Gbonyin.
The Ogun State delegation was led by the State Project Coordinator, Mrs. Bolanle Fadairo, who explained that the peer-to-peer support initiative was designed to share practical experiences, lessons learned, and best practices from Ogun State to assist Ekiti State in strengthening institutional structures for effective project implementation.
Mrs. Fadairo highlighted key areas of focus, including Women Affinity Group (WAG) formation, governance and leadership structures, financial management, grievance redress mechanisms, and behavior change communication.

Also speaking, the Ekiti State Project Coordinator of the NFWP-SU , Mrs. Toyin Familoni, emphasized the importance of peer learning as a critical strategy for the smooth execution of the Nigeria for Women Programme.
She noted that the collaboration would help fast-track implementation, strengthen institutional frameworks, and address potential challenges, particularly at the grassroots level.
Mrs. Familoni assured that Ekiti State would leverage the insights shared to ensure that Women Affinity Groups in the pilot local government areas are inclusive, well-governed, and sustainable, with measurable socio-economic benefits for women.
Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development,Mrs Olusola Adeluyi-Femi; the Special Adviser to the Wife of the Governor (Obirin Kete), the Special Adviser on Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope (WAOH) Project, and other key stakeholders.
The visit concluded with a technical session during which both states exchanged ideas on project sustainability, monitoring mechanisms, and strategies for ensuring impactful programme implementation across Ekiti State
