Ekiti To Flag -Off Yam Seed Support Programme on Wednesday

..to also distribute subsidized improved tree seedlings to farmers

Ekiti State Government will on Wednesday flag-off its Yam Seed Support Programme and distribute improved tree seedlings to farmers as part of efforts to boost agricultural production and strengthen food security in the state.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.

Boluwade said the flag-off ceremony for the yam seed support programme would hold at the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Office, ADP, Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti, by 10:00 a.m.

He added that the distribution of subsidised tree seedlings would follow at the Livestock Development Centre, Erifun, Ado-Ekiti, by 11:00 a.m., targeting oil palm and cocoa farmers.

According to him, the yam seed support initiative is designed to provide improved yam seeds to farmers as part of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure a steady supply of raw materials to yam processors.
