By Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun
As the people of Ekiti State prepare to go to the polls on Saturday, June 20, 2026, we stand at a defining moment in our democratic journey. The choice before us is not merely about electing a governor; it is about deciding whether to sustain the remarkable progress, stability and development that our state has witnessed under the leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
In every election, voters are called upon to make a choice between promises and performance. In this election, however, the choice is particularly clear because Governor Oyebanji has built a compelling record of achievement that speaks for itself.
Since assuming office, Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated exceptional leadership in character, compassion, dedication , humility, inclusiveness and an uncommon commitment to the welfare of the people. Across the length and breadth of Ekiti State, the evidence of purposeful governance is visible. Roads are being constructed and rehabilitated, schools are receiving renewed attention, healthcare facilities are being upgraded, agricultural development is being promoted, investments are being attracted and social intervention programmes are impacting the lives of the elderly, women, youths and vulnerable citizens.
The Governor has also prioritised the welfare of workers and pensioners, maintained industrial harmony, strengthened the relationship between government and the people, and ensured that governance remains responsive to the aspirations of citizens. Under his watch, Ekiti has enjoyed peace, stability and unprecedented collaboration among critical stakeholders.
Perhaps one of the greatest achievements of Governor Oyebanji is his ability to unite people across political, religious and social divides in pursuit of a common goal, which is the development of Ekiti State. His administration has fostered a spirit of inclusiveness that has earned him admiration and support far beyond the boundaries of partisan politics.
It is therefore not surprising that former governors, elder statesmen, respected political leaders, traditional rulers, professionals, artisans, market women, transport workers, civil servants, pensioners, youths, community leaders and numerous groups across the state have publicly endorsed his re-election bid. Such widespread support is unprecedented in the political history of our state and reflects a collective recognition of a leader who has placed the interest of Ekiti above every other consideration.
When leaders who once belonged to different political tendencies, as well as individuals and groups with diverse interests, speak with one voice in support of a governor, it is a testament to the quality of leadership being provided. These endorsements are not based on sentiment; they are based on visible performance, responsible governance and the confidence that Governor Oyebanji possesses the vision, capacity and character required to take Ekiti to greater heights.
As we approach Election Day, I urge every eligible voter to reflect on the progress that has been made and the opportunities that lie ahead. This is not the time to abandon a winning formula. This is not the time to interrupt a development trajectory that is yielding positive results. Rather, it is a time to consolidate our gains and strengthen the foundation that has been laid for a more prosperous Ekiti.
I therefore call on all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), supporters of Governor Oyebanji and indeed all well-meaning Ekiti citizens to come out in large numbers on Saturday and vote overwhelmingly for continuity, stability and progress.
Let us transform our appreciation for good governance into votes. Let us demonstrate that Ekiti people reward performance. Let us send a powerful message that leadership founded on integrity, competence, inclusiveness and service to the people deserves encouragement and support.
Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has earned not just another term in office, but a resounding and historic mandate that reflects the overwhelming confidence of the people. I am convinced that with the unprecedented support he enjoys across all segments of our society, Ekiti people can and should deliver more than 500,000 votes for Governor Oyebanji and the All Progressives Congress.
Such a mandate would be more than an electoral victory; it would be a referendum on good governance, a validation of outstanding performance and a declaration that the people of Ekiti have chosen continuity over uncertainty, progress over regression and unity over division.
As we exercise our civic responsibility, let us remain peaceful, orderly and law-abiding. Let us reject violence, vote-buying and all forms of electoral misconduct. Let us once again demonstrate why Ekiti is regarded as one of the most politically enlightened states in Nigeria.
On Saturday, June 20, let us come out en masse. Let us vote APC. Let us vote Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. Let us vote for continuity, development, shared prosperity and a brighter future for our beloved state.
Together, let us make history.
