The Ekiti State Commissioner for Works, Mr Sola Adebayo, has warned contractors handling the state’s 15 ongoing road projects to strictly comply with approved specifications and contractual agreements to ensure quality and durable infrastructure.
Adebayo gave the warning on Tuesday during a review meeting with contractors, consultants and engineers in Ado-Ekiti.
He said the administration of Gov. Biodun Oyebanji would not tolerate the use of substandard materials or deviation from approved engineering designs, stressing that all projects would be closely monitored to ensure quality delivery.
The commissioner urged contractors to complete projects on schedule while maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety and workmanship.
The Commissioner listed some of the ongoing projects as the reconstruction of the Iloro-Ijurin-Temidere-Ayegunle and Ipoti-Ilukuno-Oke Oro roads; Ikogosi Township roads, Alanaka Road in Efon Alaaye; Ilawe-Erinjiyan-Ikogosi Road; Ifaki-Esure-Eyio-Awo-Igede Road; GRA Third Extension Dualisation (Junction to Pavilion Road), rehabilitation of Ado-Ekiti township roads and other strategic roads across the state.

He also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability and value for money, assuring residents that ongoing road projects across the state would receive adequate supervision.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr. Olukayode Ibijola, warned that any Principal Resident Engineer found compromising project supervision would face disciplinary action in line with the Ekiti State Public Service Rules.
He also directed contractors to comply with the state’s local content policy by sourcing at least 40 per cent of asphalt requirements from within Ekiti State where available and compliant with approved standards.
Also speaking, the Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Bamidele Oke, said the meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and addressed challenges to ensure timely and quality delivery.
A representative of Delko Construction Company appealed to residents of Oke-Ori Omi and Irona in Ado-Ekiti to stop dumping building materials on roads under construction, saying the practice was hindering work and could delay project completion.
