Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, has described the ongoing Account of Stewardship programme at the Ekiti State House of Assembly as a clear demonstration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and open governance.
Olatunbosun stated this while presenting the Ministry of Information’s stewardship report before the Executive Session of the Ekiti State House of Assembly at the Assembly Complex, Ado-Ekiti.
He said the initiative provided an important platform for ministries, departments and agencies to account for their stewardship, highlight their achievements and demonstrate how public resources had been deployed in the service of the people.
The Commissioner said the Ministry of Information, under his leadership, had consistently publicised the policies, programmes, projects and activities of the Oyebanji administration, ensuring that information on government interventions reached audiences at the local, national and international levels.
He said the Ministry had also strengthened its partnership with media organisations across the state and beyond to enhance public awareness, deepen citizens’ understanding of government policies and programmes, and promote constructive engagement between the government and the people.
According to him, the Ministry had worked diligently to fulfil its mandate of effectively capturing, managing and disseminating information on government activities, while strengthening channels for feedback to ensure that the concerns and perspectives of stakeholders were adequately communicated to government.
Attributing the Ministry’s impressive budget performance to the priority and adequate funding accorded the information sector by the Oyebanji administration, Olatunbosun said the support had enabled the Ministry to effectively discharge its statutory responsibilities while improving its capacity for information management, strategic communication and public engagement.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with the media and deploying conventional and digital platforms to ensure timely, accurate and accessible information on government policies, programmes and achievements.
He added that the Ministry would continue to strengthen its communication strategies, promote greater public understanding of government initiatives and ensure that citizens remained adequately informed and connected to the activities of the administration.
Olatunbosun said the Ministry’s role remained critical to the administration’s commitment to accountable and people-centred governance, stressing that effective communication was essential to building public trust and ensuring that government policies, programmes and interventions were properly understood by the people.
