Ekiti State Government has restated its commitment to the promotion and preservation of Ekiti cultural values and empowering the youths to become self-reliant and making positive contributions to the State’s development.

The Director General of Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC), Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, stated this during a courtesy visit to the General Manager of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES), Mr. Olu Popoola.

Mrs. Famuyiwa said the purpose of the visit was to discuss potential collaborations aimed at sensitizing the people of the state on cultural values, particularly with regards to respect for elders and discouraging the youths from the “get-rich-quick” syndrome.

The Director-General emphasized the need to cultivate a sense of cultural pride and identity among the residents of the State.

She expressed her commitment to working closely with relevant stakeholders to effect a positive change in the attitudes of the youths.

In his response, the General Manager, BSES, Mr. Olu Popoola, expressed his support for the initiative and suggested that civic orientation should be included in the curriculum of public and private schools across the state.

Mr. Popoola added that incorporating civic education into the curriculum would provide a structured platform for imparting the desired values and ethics to the younger generation.

Both parties agreed to collaborate closely to develop and implement programs that would sensitize the people of Ekiti State on their cultural values and norms.

They acknowledged the importance of using various media platforms, including radio and television, to reach a wider audience and engage the youth effectively.
