EKITI TUTORS YOUTHS ON FINANCIAL LITERACY

As part of efforts to empower Youths to help them to, individually and collectively reach their goals in line with the shared prosperity agenda of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the Ekiti State Government has tutored hundreds of youths in the state on Financial Literacy.

The training scheme which was designed to impart skills and knowledge to beneficiaries with the aim of enhancing their employability and performance as well as set course for achieving important financial goals, took place during the third edition of the Youth interactive engagement platform tagged ” Youth Let’s Talk With BAO 3.0 that was held at Ido Ekiti, Ikere and Ado, representing the three senatorial districts in the State.

The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Gold Adedayo who explained that the programme was borne out of the Oyebanji administration’s passion about youths, said “Governor Biodun Oyebanji has not only created an enabling environment for young people to thrive, but has also ensured that youth-development is woven into the fabrics of governance in Ekiti State”.

Reiterating the commitment of the present administration to continuous training, development and empowerment of Youths, Hon. Adedayo added that Government’s programmes and policy thrust is to secure the future in recognition of the fact that the youths constitute about 70% population of the state and they play crucial roles in National Development.

Highlighting the areas where Gov. Oyebanji has made purposeful impacts through his ministry, Adedayo said “a dedicated Resource Centre has been established within the ministry to provide youths with access to mentorship, job opportunities, trainings and work base support”.

He stressed that “the Ekiti Digital Accelerated Programme (EDAP) was also launched in collaboration with MOTIVA to train 1,000 Ekiti youths in Information Technology (ICT) and Digital Skills” while several other MDAs in the State were running youth-centred programmes designed to make youths in the State to be globally competitive

“The ministry of Agriculture initiatives such as Agribusiness chain, farm estate opportunities and empowerment schemes have been rolled out to attract young people to modern and profitable Agribusiness. Ministry of Innovation is engaging youths through digital literacy programme, technology courses and Entrepreneurship support initiative”.

“Ministry of Education is advancing opportunities through vocational training, scholarship schemes and curriculum reforms that align with today’s economic realities to prepare young people for the future “.he stated.
