Ekiti State Government will, tomorrow Thursday 8th February, 2024 distribute 10,000 bags of maize to Livestock farmers in the State as palliatives.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade who made this known in Ado Ekiti, said that the current batch of distribution, which would be the third in the sharing of grains from the Federal Government as palliatives to different sectors of vulnerable people, is primarily targeted at boosting the production of livestock farmers.
Mr. Boluwade who also doubles as the Chairman of the State Special Committee on palliatives, said that notice of “Not for Sale” would be stamped on the bags containing the grains as beneficiaries of the scheme are not allowed to sell but inject them into their farms as carbohydrate for their livestock.

Warning that dishonest selling of the grains would negate the purpose of the scheme, Boluwade explained that the purpose of distributing the maize to livestock farmers is to cushion the impact of the prevalent high cost of livestock feed that have forced a lot of farms to wind down.
He said that the beneficiaries are expected to be seated by 11.30 am at the ADP Office in Odo Ado, Ado Ekiti venue of the event.
