Ekiti House of Committee lauds Health Commissioner on improved Healthcare service delivery

…as Ministry concludes plans to engage health vanguards to boost maternal health care.

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has commended the leadership of the Ekiti State Ministry of Health and Human Services led by Dr Oyebanji Filani for improving the healthcare service delivery in the state.

The Chairman House Committee on Health Honorable Bola Solanke gave the commendation during a familiarization visit of the committee members to the office of the Commissioner for Health and Human Services in Ado-Ekiti.

Hon. Solanke said that the House was excited with the milestones being achieved by the health sector of the state.

She applauded the state Ulerawa Health Insurance Programme for taking care of the health needs of the citizens of the state.

In their remarks, Honorable Iyabo Fakunle-Okehieme and Honorable Dele Ogunsakin urged the Ministry to continue to give in their best to ensure quality and affordable health care services for residents of the state.

While responding, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Oyebanji Filani highlighted some of the programmes being executed by the Governor Biodun Oyebanji led administration in the health sector.

Dr Filani disclosed that the State has finalized arrangements to engage health vanguards across all the 16 LGAs in the state to identify all pregnant women for better treatment and care.

The Commissioner said the health vanguard would be given necessary training and be monitored to ensure effective discharge of their duties.

The Commissioner disclosed that the government is currently renovating nine General Hospitals which he noted would be equipped with the state-of-the-art modern equipment.

He explained that the government has also increased health workers pay to compare and compete with their counterparts at the federal levels which has actually paid off in reducing “Japa” syndrome among the state health workers in recent times.

“The present administration in Ekiti State is committed to the well being of Ekiti citizens by providing quality, accessible and affordable health care services to them”.

He called on all health seeking Ekiti residents to access free health through the state Ulerawa health insurance programme.

The Health Commissioner appreciated the House for smooth working relationships with the Executive arm and most importantly the health sector of the state.

While lauding the house for the visit, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun called on the Local Government Chairmen across the state to support and ensure the success of Community Midwifery programme in their various LGAs.
