
Ekiti State Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr. Oyeniyi Adebayo has charged the Bureau of Statistics to give priority attention to the collection of quality data for effective policy formulation, planning, and evaluation.
Mr. Adebayo, who gave the charge in Ado Ekiti while declaring open the 3rd Quarter State Consultative Committee meeting on Statistics, organized by the State Bureau of Statistics pointed out that data driven decision-making is central to ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently.
He remarked that this will ensure that projects initiated by Government directly address the needs of the citizens.
While identifying statistical data analysis and its scientific use as necessary and very important for successful implementation of government policies, programmes, and effective service delivery, the Commissioner charged the entire statistical ecosystem in the State on reliable data that can significantly improve the accuracy of policy outcomes, ultimately leading to a more prosperous and well-managed state.

He commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his commitment to ensuring that the Bureau lives up to its responsibility, affirming that quality data analysis would further help the government to make progress, measure performance and make adjustment to ongoing projects where necessary.
“In view of the various forms of support provided to the Bureau and the entire Statistical ecosystem in the state by the Oyebanji led-administration, l wish to remind you of the popular saying “to whom much is given, much is expected “.
“Let me, therefore charge every one of you to ensure you maximize the opportunities available through this and other platforms to improve on your service, not just in data gathering but processing, so we can generate outputs that would meet our various users needs and assure their satisfaction”. The Commissioner said.
In her opening remarks, the State Acting Statistician General, Mrs. Dolapo Desola Ojo, said the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen collective efforts in advancing statistical excellence for informed decision making.
She explained that the mandate of the committee was to coordinate the State Statistical system with a view to developing strategies which would entrench uniform standard and methodology among various agencies that produce or use data with the aim to improving on the quality, comparability, clarity, coherence, interpretable and timeliness of statistical output in the state.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Barr. Olusola Akinluyi and the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Bukola Ogunlade commended the State Governor for his visionary leadership in prioritizing data-driven governance, noting that the state is making strides in creating a centralized data repository to facilitate informed policy formulation and monitoring which would make it easier to access and utilize data effectively across different Departments , thereby creating a more cohesive and synchronized approach to development
