…To hand over project sites for immediate commencement

The Federal Government has approved the award of critical electricity intervention projects in Ekiti State under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP), aimed at strengthening and expanding power supply across the state.

The projects include the extension of a 4-kilometre 33kV power line from CBN Junction, Ado-Ekiti, to Iyin-Ekiti, as well as the extension of a 6-kilometre 11kV line from Ayoba Junction, Government House, to the Ekiti State Water Corporation, Technical College, Ado-Ekiti, and the Technology Incubation Centre.

The State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, explained that the projects were approved by the management of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) following a formal request by Governor Biodun Oyebanji for federal intervention to address key challenges in the state’s electricity infrastructure.

According to Prof. Aluko, the intervention covers both transmission and distribution upgrades, stressing that the projects would significantly improve electricity supply to homes, businesses, schools and water facilities, thereby boosting economic activities and improving the quality of life of residents.

The Commissioner further revealed that the Ekiti State Government will soon formally hand over the project sites to enable EPC contractors mobilise to site and commence construction without delay.

“The approval of these projects is a product of the strong collaboration between His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and the Federal Government to advance Ekiti State’s development agenda. Mr. Governor remains committed to providing stable and reliable power supply as a catalyst for industrial growth, job creation and improved service delivery,” Prof. Aluko stated.

He assured stakeholders and host communities of the state government’s full cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation and timely completion of the projects for the benefit of all Ekiti residents.
